Among the many splendid roses bred by Meilland over the past 20 years, Paul Ricard is one of the finest. Its blooms are beautiful and densely petalled, with large petals of exquisite creamy or delicately apricot hues. The reverse side often displays a darker shade, resembling copper or caramel tones. The flowers usually appear individually, occasionally in small clusters, on long and sturdy stems. This variety has earned multiple awards for both its fragrance and overall appearance.
The robust bush exhibits quick reblooming, yet it doesn’t grow excessively tall. Its attractive green foliage is resistant to black spot disease and relatively resilient against powdery mildew, though not as much as before. This rose responds significantly to attentive care – provide it with proper nourishment, and you will be rewarded.
The blooms of this variety are sizable and densely layered, composed of around 40 broad petals. They exhibit a chalice-like shape and maintain their symmetrical form as they unfold. The color is amber-yellow, appearing brighter in cooler climates, while hot weather might fade the color, turning the outer petals nearly creamy-beige. The fragrance is reminiscent of honey with a hint of spices. These flowers have an impressive vase life. The bush is well-branched, vigorous, and tall, featuring large, closely-packed green foliage.
