Rose gardening book

I’m Ann , a gardener who never planned to become “a rose person”, yet somehow ended up building a life surrounded by petals, thorns, and quiet miracles.

My rose story didn’t start with expertise.
It started with curiosity… and a bit of stubborn love.

I planted my first roses the way many of us do — with more enthusiasm than knowledge. Some died, some struggled, some refused to bloom at all. I remember walking through the garden in those early years, feeling like the roses were trying to tell me something I didn’t yet understand.

So I listened.

I listened to the soil, to the weather, to the way leaves changed color when the plant was stressed. I listened to older gardeners, to books, to scientific research, and — most importantly — to my own garden, day after day.

What began as frustration slowly turned into fascination.
One rose became ten… ten became a hundred… and before I knew it, my entire garden became a living classroom.

A place where failures turned into lessons, and every small success felt like a celebration.

Along the way, I discovered that growing roses is not about perfection. It’s about relationship.

Roses taught me patience.
They taught me resilience.
They taught me that beauty appears when the plant  and the gardener  feel supported, nourished, and understood.

I wrote this book because I know that moment: standing in front of a rose that won’t grow or bloom, feeling confused, disappointed, or even a bit defeated. I’ve been there more times than I can count.

And each time, I found a reason.
A real, practical, fixable reason.

This book is my way of passing that understanding on to you — not as a lecture, but as a friend walking with you through your garden, pointing gently and saying:

“Here. This is what’s happening. And here’s how we can help.”

If you’re new to roses, I’m cheering for your first bloom.
